Hello! I’m Suzanne, otherwise known as the Sue in Beauty By Sue. I operate a private home-based studio where I spend my days making all the pretties.
Unlike may other stylists, I didn't start doing hair full time until my 30s. Originally, I went to college to be a teacher- my dream was to be a Shakespeare professor and have deep meaningful conversations with my students on the meaning of life and love a la “Dead Poets Society”. But marriage, kids, and moves up and down the East Coast meant I got to experiment with many jobs before finding my dream career as a cosmetologist.
Being a mom means I know what it’s like to carve out a few hours for yourself, and coming to my space means not having to put up with the usual salon experience- no noisy nosy neighbors in the chair next to you or loud stylists chatting and blowdrying up a thundercloud of distractions. Just you, me, and the sweet tunes on Florence and the Machine Radio from my Pandora. Plus, there’s not fear of being “sold” to. I don’t sell services and products, I provide solutions to your problems. Beauty problems that is!
Spoiler Alert: I’m a total nerd and can talk your ear off the whole time about the science of beauty. Color theory, chemical processes, bond-builders, you name it- I can wax poetic about them all. There’s a reason I was always picked as team captain on the trivia days in school! I feel like I’m a pretty cool nerd though. Between my rainbow colored hair and outgoing personality, I’m more Felicia Day than Napoleon Dynamite. But whether you want an in depth step by step of your color process or just a chat about the most recent Marvel movie, you can rest assured you’ll still leave my chair knowing exactly how to care for your hair at home so you never have to struggle with fading or damage.
So if you want to get flooded with compliments and stop-you-in-the-street hair, get started today by visiting my New Clients page where you can choose to schedule an in person or virtual consult! I’d love to create a custom strategy to take your hair to the next level.
"I grew up always loving beauty. I almost started my cosmetology career at 20, but it would be almost 12 years before I finally graduated hair school- after a roundabout route that included esthetics school, cosmetics retail, and a thriving career as a professional makeup artist. Now in my 30s I can say I've finally found my place in this industry, combining my love of hair, skin, and makeup into my own salon suite."
"This is not only my job, it is my passion. It gives me the freedom to control my schedule to be the best mom I can be to my two young sons and the freedom to create beautiful living works of art on some of the worlds' prettiest faces. The health of my client's skin and hair are my top priority, and everything I do is geared towards a healthy approach to beauty."
